Meaningful Beauty® - To Buy or Not To Buy Into?

As you know, I've been looking for a skin care line to call my own for a long time.

Need a refresher? Check out these posts:

Drowning In Anti-Aging Products

Women Of A Certain Age

I was up one Sunday morning and saw an infomercial for Meaningful Beauty® - Anti Aging Skin Care Products by Cindy Crawford.

This is the second time I have ever bought anything from an infomercial (the first time was Hip Hop Abs... that's another story). In fact, I hardly ever order things I haven't first seen physically before my eyes and have had a chance to try out beforehand.

While watching the infomercial, I looked up some blog posts on it, read mixed reviews and wasn't sure I would call. However, when I saw Cindy Crawford's before and after picture, that's when I picked up the phone. Have you seen those pictures?

I know these products won't turn me into Cindy Crawford, but if it could keep me looking as young as she has, then I thought it would be worth a shot.

When I called, the friendly operator suggested I upgrade to a bigger package, and buy some beauty supplements (no thanks). She was very nice and even gave me the number I needed to call should I want to cancel. She was also honest about the size of the products being shipped, which was refreshing.

Although I was kind of nervous that this purchase would be a big waste, I knew I could get my money back if it sucked big time. Thus, I was kind of excited when my white box came in (see my low quality photo above)

So I tried all of the products that came in the box, and here's what I think so far:

The cleanser - I like having something gentle to wash my face with. Does it get rid of waterproof eye makeup? Not so much. But it doesn't claim to do so. However, it does a pretty good job, considering that's not what its for.

Day cream - This keeps my skin radiant throughout the day. I don't ever feel like it's completely absorbed, though, which I like. I don't ever have dry skin! I know this because I went swimming and while in the pool I could feel the lotion on my face.

The Night cream -This also keeps my face soft. However, I think this needs some time to see results because I'm not sure if any "restoring" is going on.

Eye Cream - This is another product that needs some time to show real results. However, I've been using it everyday, it doesn't irritate the eye area and, it keeps the puffiness factor down, so that's a plus.

Glowing serum - I really love the glowing serum. I see results immediately. I even went to work without any makeup (other than a little blush) and I felt good about it.

The Masque - This is really fab - I say this because I used it before a photo shoot and it gave me a fresh clean palette, without any redness or irritation.[Check out the pic on the About Li page]

Wrinkle smoothing capsules - That gave me a bit of an allergic reaction, so I stopped that right away.

Decollete cream - This sensitive area of my skin almost took well to this - it gave me some itchiness in the neck area, which is a total bummer.

What's the verdict?

Overall, I like this stuff. It makes me feel silky smooth. But the question remains, will I keep using this?  The answer: I don't know.

What's the down side?
The bottles are small. I'm not sure if that's just for the intro or what.  I also don't like the idea of these products being shipped to me - I'd rather pick it up in a store, when I need it. I also don't like the automatic renewal, because I hate feeling pressured into watching the days before my card is charged.

Am I willing to give up my old beauty products?

That is the question. I spend so much money on Aveeno and Olay, that I thought sticking with one brand that I really love might be more cost efficient and better for my skin. However, my mother is 60 and looks like she's in her 40's. She's been using Jergens her whole life and I'm not giving that up so fast. Those results I can see right in front of my face!

We'll see if I buy into this Meaningful Beauty line... and I will ceratinly let you know!

In the meantime, if you've tried Meaningful Beauty,
please let me know your "deep thoughts."

This review has been done of my own accord without any incentive whatsoever.  I am  not affiliated with the company or with Cindy Crawford, though I'd actually love to meet her!
